I just got done reading the book Midwives by Chris Bohjalian. It was good, not the most compelling book ever, but interesting. It is not for the faint of heart when it comes to birth stories, but it tells the story of a midwife in the 1980's that was put on trial for involuntary manslaughter for preforming a Cesarean section on a (presumably) dead woman to save the baby. It is told from the 14 year old daughter's perspective and how the trial changed her world. I thought it could use a little more punch at the end, but I recommend it to anyone looking for a quick read who isn't queasy. If anyone has any good book recommendations I would love to hear them.
